Mountains

In all its territorial variety, Italy boasts a large number of beautiful and evocative mountain localities, ideal for visiting any time of year, whether summer or winter. From north to south, the Italian mountain scene offers tourists a range of landscapes: lakes at high altitude, incredible forests, enchanting villages and borgos rich in history, traditions and, of course, gastronomic pleasures.

Sports, fun and relaxation marry themselves perfectly well in a mountain vacation in the Bel Paese, both amidst snow or in the conditions of fairer seasons.
The Italian mountains invite visitors to experience a wide array of cultural and outdoor activities around year: ski, alpine skiing, snowboarding, trekking and Nordic walking, mountain biking… not to mention excellent structures for ice skating, swimming, tennis, horseback riding… the list just goes on!

The large European mountain range Alps rises in the northernmost extremity of Italy, defining the geographical boundary. The imposing Alpine ridge passes through some regions: Liguria, Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Val di Sole

The Val di Sole is a valley belonging to the western part of Trentino. The name, Val di Sole is not casual; here the sun is really the leading star of many days and seasons. The scenery is one of the most fascinating. The Stelvio National Park to the north and the Adamello Brenta Natural Park to the south, make Val di Sole a territory that is truly immersed in nature. More than one third of the entire area is protected land in which it is still possible to breath in the air of an undamaged world. The Stelvio National Park is the largest of the alpine arch.
The part of the park that is in the Trentino region, extends into two side valleys: the Peio valley and the Rabbi valley.
The scenery offered by the Stelvio National Park is truly unique: majestic peaks, luxuriant forests, green mountain pastures, waterfalls, bubbly streams and shepherd’s huts on the mountainside that stand in complete harmony with the environment in which they were created.

The Adamello Brenta Natural Park is generally well-known due to the fact that it is the only Alpine area still inhabited by the Brown Bear. The Park has an endless variety of wildlife and flora and the legendary stone towers of the Dolomites, a unique and famous attraction throughout the world, were officially recognized in 2009 as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Val di Sole is surrounded by peaks of over 3000 m of altitude of the mountain ranges of Brenta in the south, the Ortles-Cevedale in the north and Adamello-Presanella in the east. Abundant snowfalls are guaranteed due such unique geographical location and the fact that it has the highest mountains in all of the Central and Eastern Alps.

A fascinating world that guarantees heavy snowfalls and exciting moments on the snow. But what if the traditional snowfall is less than plentiful? No problem! The Folgarida-Marilleva, Peio and Passo Tonale winter ski resorts are all equipped with snowmaking equipment that guarantee pure white snow on 95% of the slopes.
Therefore a true paradise for skiers and snowboarders, that can ski up to a height of 3000 meters. Val di Sole provides a wide range of services for all those that ski or snowboard: efficient ski schools, equipped snow parks, equipment rentals with the latest trends and public transportation that allows you to easily reach the lifts. And with a SUPERSKIRAMA DOLOMITI adamello brenta ski pass, you can increase the number of ski areas for a total of 380 km of slopes!

In summer our mountains will be able to offer easy hikings, mountain-climbings for the more experienced and excursions for nature-lovers in order to admire the many flowers and animals which inhabit the mountains. For a holiday full of sports and recreation the Val di Sole valley is simply a must.

From Mostizzolo to the Passo Tonale, we encounter all the best things mountains can offer: superb peaks, snowy landscapes for skiing also in summer on the Presena glacier, thick woodlands ideal for hikings. After gazing at the unending rise and fall of the peaks, summits and mountain ridges that surround Val di Sole, the view of an alpine lake will be a sight for your eyes and a source of serenity and peace for your mind.

Val di Sole has about 100 lakes, some are isolated while others are grouped closely together, all reflecting marvellous blue and turquoise tones. The majority of these alpine lakes are located in the Ortles-Cevedale mountain group, amongst the valleys of Peio and Rabbi creating fascinating and unique landscapes.

Except lakes, there are also many rivers. The Noce River rises near the Corno dei Tre Signori (3360 m) in the Ortles Cevedale Mountain Group and after having crossed through the entire valley, it flows into the Lake of Santa Giustina.
The river offers the possibility to try different activities that all offer diverse ways to appreciate the uniqueness of its charm.

In the bottom of the valley we can find all the villages located near the Noce river, where in summer it is possible to practise kanoeing, rafting and hydrospeed. Each village has its churches, castles, old dwellings where time seemed to stop. The habits, the customs, the typical cuisine, the traditions are always the ones of past times.

Every day, in some place, different events are organised in order to cheer up the evenings of the guests. Not to forget is the network of shops, which enable the guests to go for shopping, with the certainty to find everything among which the typical solander specialities
